People often mix up being accurate with being precise but there is a big difference between the two. When you are accurate, you are getting to where you need to go. You are accomplishing or getting very close to what you wish to achieve.
Being precise means that you are doing something in exactly the right way however, you can be precise but still be going in the wrong direction.
It is human and organizational nature that for most of the processes that we come up with, the focus is on being precise. The downside to this can be that people get so concentrated on following the process correctly, they lose sight of whether or not that process is getting them to where they actually want to go.
If you are working on creating a process right now, be it at work or at home, be careful to not forget the difference between being accurate and being precise.
