One of the most common mistakes marketing and salespeople make is that the customers that they see are not aligned with the messages that they are delivering.
If your messaging is focused on how premium your product is, but many of the customers that you see are all about low price, you have a disconnect. Same problem if you are talking efficacy while for many of your customers safety concerns are holding them back.
Whoever you are seeing as customers, the message that you are sharing with them has to be aligned with their interests and priorities. If it is not, you are wasting their time and your own.
It could be that you change your message to better align with the customers that you see, or it could be that you change the customers that you see to those who are more aligned with your message.
Whichever it is, a really important exercise to perform is to sit back, reflect and consider, is your targeting aligned with your messaging?
